We are all for dressed like a chessboard since we heard it is making a comeback this year. We are passionate about chess. Undoubtedly, it's an underappreciated hobby. On second consideration, though, it's doubtful that wearing a chessboard will help the game itself much. Having several people cosplaying as chessboards simply doesn't feel like appropriate P.R. To be honest, it would most likely frighten off fresh players. Wait, though; we have to discuss the actual clothing rather than merely chess. Someone apparently just knitted some kitchen towels together at random and fashioned a garment from them. Unusual. Although classic in its own right, the black and white chequered pattern gains whole new significance when considered for a whole outfit. This audacious style selection balances visual overload with whimsical statement piece. The analogy to kitchen towels highlights the sometimes narrow line separating common objects from high couture, not exactly off-base. This outfit might be interpreted as a foolish attempt at uniqueness in a crowd or as a statement on the game of life, where every action we take is as strategic as a chess move. For better or worse, it most definitely achieves the aim of drawing attention whatever the motive.
